Me

In the beginning, there was the Apple IIe. And it was good. But not that good. As a kid, I liked it, but it couldn't do as much as I wanted. In Junior High, I took a programming class and loved creating a PacMan game, but I was disappointed at how rudimentary it was, how illogical the "spaghetti-code" of the time was, and especially how horrible the "Trash-80" computers I used were. I really didn't think computers would amount to much....

I went on to college and explored my deepest interests: human history, culture, society, psychology, and systems of thought. I took a lot of everything, but eventually had to focus my studies to graduate; I earned a BA in Sociocultural Anthropology.

Then, in 1999, I discovered that computers had become fast, powerful, and able to accomodate my imagination. I went back to school and fell in love with everything multimedia. Photoshop, Flash and Director were miraculous and astounding because they could do things I never thought possible on a computer. I learned quickly everything that I could.

The skills and knowledge I learned as a kid obsessing over PacMan, later as an anthropology major, and finally as a New Media creative have all helped me to launch my career as a New Media Designer. I believe successful design—that is, useable design—incorporates interactivity, knowledge of human behavior and systems of thought, and the latest appropriate technology.
